Literacy for Love is hosting their 1st annual community book drive called Books for Love.
60% of book will be donated to: low-income students and families through our English Language Learner Programs and Book Banks.
We want to emphasize that help is needed in our local community and we can be the change. There are ESL/ELL, low-income and homeless students that attend school for 6-7 hours everyday feeling out of place because they struggle with the English language. Most of these students then go to a home where there is nothing or families that are not able to support or teach them. They are then expected to provide for themselves or their families for the future, even though they are limited with little to no resources at home. Our goal is to provide books for these students and families because believe it or not, many of them live without every owning a book of their own. Books for Love wants to advocate that there are problems not only in 3rd world countries but there are many problems closer than we think, in our local community.
40% of books will be donated to: a third-world country.
Our goal is to have officers and in the future, members hand deliver books to their 3rd-world country target. This year Literacy for Love chose Nicaragua and hopes to partner with: Free the Children a non-profit organization to provide books to rural schools, build a school, teach English to children, teens, adults, and experience a new culture, humility, and heart.
